E-APP
The Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programme (E-APP) was first launched by the Education Bureau in February 2012. It is an online application system developed for the secondary school candidates sitting for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Examination (HKDSE) to lodge advance applications for full-time locally-accredited undergraduate and sub-degree programmes not covered under the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) before the release of the HKDSE results. It provides an alternative application channel to supplement those offered by individual institutions.
As at the closing date of the E-APP application on 8 July 2024, 59,326 applications from about 20,157 HKDSE applicants were processed. Among them, most of the applicants submitted 3 or fewer applications via E-APP. There were over 970,000 visitors browsing the E-APP website within the seven months from December 2023 to July 2024.
Among the 123,400 programmes applied through E-APP, 20.6% were Business and Management, followed by 16.9% on Social Sciences, 15.5% on Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, 6.7% on Services, 6.6% on Engineering and Technology, 6.4% on Arts, Design and Performing Arts, 6.3% on Computer Science and Information Technology, 4.4% on Humanities, 4.3% on Languages and Related Studies, 4.3% on Mass Media and Communications, Journalism and Public Relations, 3.7% on Sciences, 3.3% on Education, 1.0% on Others (Chart 1).
