Undergraduate Programmes
First-year-first-degree Programmes
The subsidised places of the designated first-year-first-degree (FYFD) programmes are allocated mainly through the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) in order to ensure eligible students are selected through a merit-based system. For the eligibility to apply via JUPAS and other details, please refer to the JUPAS website. To nurture talent in support of sectors with keen demand for human resources and to benefit students from different backgrounds, including those possessing Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) qualifications, from the 2023/24 academic year, participating institutions are allowed to admit non-JUPAS local students via direct admission of no more than 20% (Note) of the subsidised places of each designated programme, and the non-JUPAS admission may take place in parallel with JUPAS admission. Non-JUPAS local applicants should refer to the relevant institutions’ websites for their admission arrangements including the commencement date and deadline of the application.
(Note) For the programmes selected under the Pilot Project on the Development of Applied Degree Programmes, the Education Bureau and the participating institutions are on a pilot basis exploring to provide more flexibility regarding the admission of non-JUPAS local students via direct admission. For details, students may contact the relevant institutions.
Top-up Degree Programmes
The subsidised places of the designated top-up degree (TUD) programmes are allocated according to existing admission arrangement of the self-financing TUD programmes, i.e. through direct admission by institutions. Students can apply for admission to the designated TUD programmes directly through the institutions concerned. Please approach the institutions concerned for the details about admission and relevant arrangements, including the eligibility for subsidy and tuition fees payment.
Sub-degree Programmes
The subsidised places are allocated according to existing admission arrangement of the self-financing sub-degree programmes, i.e. through direct admission by institutions. Students can apply for admission to the designated sub-degree programmes directly through the institutions concerned. Please approach the institution(s) concerned for the details about admission and relevant arrangements including the eligibility for subsidy and tuition fees payment etc.
Candidates sitting for the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) in the current academic year may also lodge advance applications through Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) before the announcement of HKDSE results for most of the full-time locally accredited sub-degree and undergraduate programmes that are not covered under JUPAS.
Local students who have attained (a) Level 2 or above in five subjects including English Language and Chinese Language in the HKDSE Examination; (b) Diploma of Applied Education* / Diploma Yi Jin; or (c) Diploma of Foundation Studies awarded by the Vocational Training Council are eligible for the subsidy for sub-degree programmes under SSSDP.
The participating institutions are allowed to admit local students with other relevant qualifications subject to a ceiling of 50% of the subsidised places of the designated programmes.
*For details of the qualification obtained from successful completion of the Diploma of Applied Education programme, please refer to the Diploma of Applied Education website.
