Talent Development Scholarship

I am a student athlete, a member of the Hong Kong Men’s Handball Team.  I have represented U18 & U20 teams in nation-wide and regional competitions.

The scholarship serves as a recognition of my hard work, motivating me to strive for excellence in both my academic and athletic pursuit.  It provides significant support for me as a student athlete.  It can cover my tuition fee and subsidise my sports training expenses so that I no longer need to work twice a week to make ends meet.  This allows me to dedicate more time to focus on training and study.  With the scholarship, I can afford training services and equipment, such as gym membership and a new pair of handball shoes, which are essential for enhancing training effectiveness and improving athletic performance.

In the early years of primary school, I was a shy boy, hesitant to talk or interact with others.  After my PE teacher discovered my athletic talent in Primary Two, I began playing handball and day after day gained confidence.  I enjoy competing on the court together with my teammates.  The sport has inspired me a lot and fostered my positive lifestyle.  I have developed perseverance and made “never give up” my motto.

Here is an encouragement to those who are striving for their aspirations and a reminder to myself.  No matter how fast and how far you are, never lose sight of why you started.  For me, it is my passion for handball which has transformed me and brought me countless benefits.  Remember the reason you work hard for.  This can sustain your motivation on the tough journey.

I aspire to be a PE teacher.  It is a meaningful profession to me.  I hope to help students discover their potential and talents, just like what my teacher did.  I am paving the way for this dream to become a reality.  My HKDSE results were not good enough for direct entry into the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, but I did not give up.  After seeking advice from my senior, I chose to enrol in the Higher Diploma Programme in Recreation and Leisure Management at CUSCS and planned to re-apply to CUHK two years later.  I have made persistent effort over the past two years and have finally secured a conditional offer from CUHK, which takes me one step closer to my dream.

 

I would like to express special thanks to my academic coordinator, Stella.  She has provided me with tremendous support and countless opportunities, enabling me to continuously improve myself.  My gratitude also goes to CUSCS, a place that has motivated me to surpass my limits and guided me step by step towards achieving my goals.  Last but not least, I must thank my family and friends for their unwavering support and encouragement, which has helped me stay resilient in pursuit of my dreams.
