Best Progress Award

Higher Diploma in Corporate Administration

I consider myself an average student. I am neither a gifted learner nor a very strong-willed person. English has been my weakest subject in school. I was flabbergasted when I was notified of the award. Never in my dreams would I expect myself to receive the Best Progress Award. This prompted me to look back on my two-year Higher Diploma learning journey. Since I had not taken any business-related subjects in secondary school, it took me longer than those who did to understand and digest the learning contents at the beginning. I did not achieve well in any subject, and very often, I only got a bare pass in tests and exams, which further dented my confidence in learning. In the end, I even failed to get the passing marks in several subjects and had to retake some of them.
Time passed without my noticing. With the programme approaching its end, I felt the pressure mounting on me. But I was not about to give up, still holding fast to the hope that I could graduate eventually. So I threw myself into study. After much hard work, I managed to get good results in Year 2, scoring well above the passing marks in exams. I was not aware of the progress I had made at the time; all I knew was that I had to do my level best.
I am deeply grateful to my school for putting me up for the award, which was truly a surprise. Now I realise that as long as you do not give up and try your hardest, you may be rewarded with surprises. This belief will be the driving force for my future academic and career pursuits.
Just remember: Your hard work today will definitely pay off in the future!
