Best Progress Award
Recipient in the 2015/16 Academic Year

HO Hoi Hing, Rex
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Retail and Service Management
School of Professional Education and Executive Development, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
I am pleased and honored to receive the Best Progress Award. While pursuing my degree, I have understood that reading textbooks, literatures and journals is crucial. It definitely helped me understand concepts I have acquired during lectures. At the same time, I knew the importance of concentration. Other than paying attention during classes, I also focus on every assignment and examination. As a result, it took me a great leap to achieve better academic performance.
Besides, I have also realized that learning opportunity can be everywhere, and is not limited at the classroom. I have joined a study tour to Singapore, where I could exchange ideas and views with students from the University at Buffalo while participating in leisure activities. I enjoyed this unique learning experience as we seldom have the opportunity to interact with overseas students. The study tour has undoubtedly broadened my horizon. It brought me a great chance to take a step forward out of my comfort zone to communicate with people with different background.
After graduation, I am now working as an advisor in an European-based business and credit information agency. Though the job nature is pretty much different from my major studies, it allows me to understand the real business environment and the operation of various companies. Under the current unstable global economy, I find my job very meaningful as one of my duties is to arouse corporations to the awareness and importance of credit risk management. I could therefore provide solutions to minimize their risk.
Finally, I would like to give a special credit to PolyU SPEED and all lecturers, coordinators, who have supported all of us not only in terms of our academic studies, but also our all-round development. Thank you everyone.
