Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes

Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) (http://www.eapp.gov.hk) is a one-stop internet-based online application system developed by the Education Bureau since February 2012.  It facilitates current year Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination candidates to lodge advance applications for locally-accredited sub-degree and undergraduate programmes not covered under the Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) before the announcement of HKDSE Examination results.

About 61,600 applications from over 23,400 HKDSE applicants were processed by E-APP launched in the 2015/16 academic year. Moreover, there were over 675,000 visitors browsing the E-APP website within the seven months from December 2015 to June 2016.

Benefits of using E-APP

E-APP provides an application channel for the HKDSE Examination candidates to lodge advance applications for locally-accredited sub-degree and undergraduate programmes not covered under JUPAS. Through E-APP, applicants will only have to submit one online application form to lodge advance applications for programmes offered by different institutions, which is simple and fast, to plan their studies. E-APP includes most of the locally-accredited sub-degree and undergraduate programmes not covered under JUPAS that can be applied before the announcement of HKDSE Examination results. E-APP synchronises with the Information Portal for Accredited Post-secondary Programmes (iPASS). Programmes in E-APP can be sorted by institutions or areas of study. Applicants may also make use of the searching function in E-APP to facilitate their programme selection.

Participating institutions will process applications from E-APP. Where applicable, they will arrange interview with applicants and/or give applicants conditional offer(s). On the date of HKDSE Examination results announcement (i.e. 13 July 2016), E-APP will pass applicants’ HKDSE Examination results directly from the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority (HKEAA) to their appplied institutions so that those institutions can confirm their offers as soon as possible. Therefore, applicants do not need to notify the institutions of their examination results in person.

In addition to facilitating HKDSE Examination candidates’ programme application, E-APP can also be used by secondary schools. Teachers may upload School Reference Report onto E-APP. They may also view their students’ application status and progress on E-APP so as to provide guidance to students who are in need.
